Handmade Watercolor Paints
Made From Plants & Expired Makeup

This journey has been filled with research and experimentation. In an effort to be more sustainable as an artist, I have discovered how to create watercolor paint completely from scratch by using plants from my backyard and food scraps from my pantry through a lake pigment process. Other watercolor paints are created from expired makeup palettes to repurpose and extend their useability. I then create a natural watercolor binder using gum arabic, vegetable glycerin, honey, and clove oil. The pigments are hand-mixed with the watercolor binder and ground with a muller to create the smooth high-quality watercolor paints you see pictured below.
